Creating an array of strings through user input in C++

In this article, we will discuss the concept of Creating an array of strings through user input in C++

In this post, we are going to learn how to write a program to input and create array of strings (string elements in single dimensional array )  using  for, while and do-while  loop in C++ language

Code to input Strings of an array

Code to  input Strings of an array using for loop

In this code, we are going to learn how to read and create array of Strings (string elements (user input) in single dimensional array) using for loop in C++ language

Program 1

#include <iostream>
#include <conio.h>
using namespace std;

int main()
{
    int len;
    cout << "Enter array length:" << endl;
    cin>>len;//input array length
    cout << "Enter your "<<len<<" Strings:" << endl;
    string* str=new string[len];//declaring a array of string
    for(int i=0; i<len; i++ ){
            cout << "Enter string for index "<<"str["<<i<<"]"<<":";
        cin>>str[i];//Taking string as input from user
    }

    cout << "\nentered "<<len<<" Strings:" << endl;
    for(int i=0; i<len; i++ ){

        cout<<str[i]<<endl;//Printing string as input from user
    }
getch();
    return 0;
}

When the above code is executed, it produces the following result

Enter array length:
5
Enter your 5 strings:
Enter string for index str[0]:Lila
Enter string for index str[1]:Mala
Enter string for index str[2]:Nila
Enter string for index str[3]:Kala
Enter string for index str[4]:Mona

Entered 5 strings:
Lila
Mala
Nila
Kala
Mona

Code to  input Strings of an array using while loop

In this code, we are going to learn how to read and create array of strings ( string elements (user input) in single dimensional array) using while loop in C++ language

Program 2

#include <iostream>
#include <conio.h>
using namespace std;

int main()
{
    int len;
    cout << "Enter array length:" << endl;
    cin>>len;//input array length
    cout << "Enter your "<<len<<" Strings:" << endl;
    string* str=new string[len];//declaring a array of string
    int i=0;
    while( i<len){
            cout << "Enter string for index "<<"str["<<i<<"]"<<":";
        cin>>str[i];//Taking string as input from user
         i++;
    }

    cout << "\nentered "<<len<<" Strings:" << endl;
    i=0;
    while(i<len){//printing array of strings

        cout<<str[i]<<endl;//Printing string as input from user
        i++ ;
    }
getch();
    return 0;
}

When the above code is executed, it produces the following result

Enter array length:
4
Enter your 4 strings:
Enter string for index str[0]:Kathir
Enter string for index str[1]:Karan
Enter string for index str[2]:Kanth
Enter string for index str[3]:Kamal

Entered 5 strings:
Kathir
Karan
Kanth
Kamal

Code to  input Strings of an array using do-while loop

In this code, we are going to learn how to read and create array of strings (string elements (user input) of single dimensional array ) using do-while loop in C++ language

Program 3

#include <iostream>
#include <conio.h>
using namespace std;

int main()
{
    int len;
    cout << "Enter array length:" << endl;
    cin>>len;//input array length
    cout << "Enter your "<<len<<" Strings:" << endl;
    string* str=new string[len];//declaring a array of string
    int i=0;
    do{
            cout << "Enter string for index "<<"str["<<i<<"]"<<":";
        cin>>str[i];//Taking string as input from user
         i++;
    }while( i<len);

    cout << "\nentered "<<len<<" Strings:" << endl;
    i=0;
    do{//printing array of strings

        cout<<str[i]<<endl;//Printing string as input from user
        i++ ;
    }while(i<len);
getch();
    return 0;
}

When the above code is executed, it produces the following result

Enter array length:
3
Enter your 3 strings:
Enter string for index str[0]:Sathees
Enter string for index str[1]:Mugesh
Enter string for index str[2]:Kunesh

Entered 3 strings:
Sathees
Mugesh
Kunesh
