Hollow Inverted Pyramid pattern in Java language

In this article, we will discuss the Hollow inverted Pyramid star pattern in Java language – using loops

In this post, we will learn how to create an inverted Pyramid star pattern using for, while and do-wile loop in Java language

Hollow Inverted Pyramid pattern – using for loop

Program 1

This program allows the user to enter the number of rows and the symbol then the program displays the hollow  pyramid star pattern with the given symbol using for loop in java language

import java.util.Scanner;
class Pyramid_HollowInvert{
public static void main (String args[]){
  int rows;//variable declaration
  char ch;
Scanner sc=new Scanner(System.in);
//Create scanner object
System.out.print("Enter the rows: ");
rows=sc.nextInt();
System.out.println("Enter symbol as you wish: ");
ch=sc.next().charAt(0);//read number input from user
//Read input from the user to number of rows

for(int i=rows; i>=1; i--){//Print each row
for(int j=rows; j>i; j--){//Print space for Pyramid shape
System.out.print(" ");
}
for(int k=1; k<2*i; k++){//for loop for print *
if(i==rows || (k==1 || k==2*i-1))
 System.out.print(ch); //print star
 else {
 System.out.print(" "); //print space
 }

}
 System.out.println(""); //move to next line
}
}
}

When the above code is executed, it produces the following result

"<yoastmark

Hollow Inverted Pyramid pattern – using the while loop

Program 2

This program allows the user to enter the number of rows and the symbol then the program displays the hollow  pyramid star pattern with the given symbol using while loop in java language

import java.util.Scanner;
class Pyramid_HollowInvert1{
public static void main (String args[]){
  int rows;//variable declaration
  char ch;
Scanner sc=new Scanner(System.in);
//Create scanner object
System.out.print("Enter the rows: ");
rows=sc.nextInt();
System.out.println("Enter symbol as you wish: ");
ch=sc.next().charAt(0);//read number input from user
//Read input from the user to numer of rows
int i=rows;
while(i>=1){//Print each row
int j=rows;
while( j>i){//Print space for Pyramid shape
System.out.print(" ");
 j--;
}
int k=1;
while(k<2*i){//for loop for print *
if(i==rows || (k==1 || k==2*i-1))
 System.out.print(ch); //print star
 else {
 System.out.print(" "); //print space
 }
 k++;
}
 System.out.println(""); //move to next line
  i--;
}
}
}

When the above code is executed, it produces the following result

"<yoastmark

Hollow Inverted Pyramid pattern – using the while loop

Program 3

This program allows the user to enter the number of rows and the symbol then the program displays the hollow  pyramid star pattern with the given symbol using the do-while loop in java language

import java.util.Scanner;
class Pyramid_HollowInvert2{
public static void main (String args[]){
  int rows;//variable declaration
  char ch;
Scanner sc=new Scanner(System.in);
//Create scanner object
System.out.print("Enter the rows: ");
rows=sc.nextInt();
System.out.println("Enter symbol as you wish: ");
ch=sc.next().charAt(0);//read number input from user
//Read input from the user to numer of rows
int i=rows;
do{//Print each row
int j=rows;
do{//Print space for Pyramid shape
System.out.print(" ");
 j--;
}while( j>=i);
int k=1;
do{//do-while loop for print *
if(i==rows || (k==1 || k==2*i-1))
 System.out.print(ch); //print star
 else {
 System.out.print(" "); //print space
 }
 k++;
}while(k<2*i);
 System.out.println(""); //move to next line
  i--;
}while(i>=1);
}
}

When the above code is executed, it produces the following result

"<yoastmark
